GYROKINESIS® is a movement methodology that addresses the entire body, opens energy pathways, stimulates the nervous system through breathing patterns, increases range of motion, and creates functional strength through rhythmic, flowing sequences. It is an original and unique method, which coordinates movement, breath, and mental focus. Exercises progress from sitting on a chair, to floor, to standing in a continuous sequence. You will feel relaxed yet more energetic at the same time.
Please bring a mat, a chair/stool (knees lower than hips when seated), and bare feet/clean hands.
Testimonial: "Monica is a great teacher via Zoom. She was able to see any mistakes I made and correct them right away. Her Gyrokinesis class is a perfect compliment to other exercise I do (weights and biking). It offers a full body stretch and conditioning." -Nancy C.
Monica has been learning, practicing, & teaching Gyrokinesis, part of the Gyrotonic system of movement since 1999.
Starting ballet at 30, she saw the benefits of injury prevention & the strength & flexibility the system gave her to improve her technique. It greatly enhanced her recreational activities in the Upper Valley, like cycling, mountain biking, skiing, skating, & hiking.
Her interest in functional movement led to further studies with Hilary Cartwright, the creator of Yoga Narada
. Monica is bringing this powerful and innovative approach to yoga for the first time to the Upper Valley.
Before relocating to NYC, Monica taught Gyrokinesis at Dartmouth College, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Upper Valley Aquatic Center, Open Door, Upper Valley Yoga, White River Ballet Academy, Yoga Roots in Burlington, as well as at her private home practice in WRJ, VT. Monica presently splits her time between the UV & NYC.
