Instructor: Monica Ha
Yoga Narada brings a gentle but powerful experience to both the newcomer & experienced yoga practitioner. Unlike a traditional yoga class, this class moves like a Tai Chi meditation. Working from the inside out, we start seated with gentle sensory awakenings & progress through specific breath patterns into larger movements, into challenging abdominal work, into deeper stretches & hip openings on the floor. Moving at a gentle pace, the nervous system is stimulated, improving coordination and flexibility, whilst elevating the mood.
Please have bare feet/clean hands, a mat, and a pillow or yoga block(s), in case you need it.
Monica has been learning, practicing, and teaching Gyrokinesis, part of the Gyrotonic system of movement since 1999.
Starting ballet at 30, she saw the benefits of injury prevention & the strength & flexibility the system gave her to improve her technique. It also greatly enhanced her recreational activities in the Upper Valley, like cycling, mountain biking, skiing, skating, & hiking.
Her interest in functional movement led to further studies with Hilary Cartwright, the creator of Yoga Narada. Monica is bringing this powerful & innovative approach to yoga for the first time to the Upper Valley.
Before relocating to NYC, Monica taught Gyrokinesis at Dartmouth College, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Upper Valley Aquatic Center, Open Door, Upper Valley Yoga, White River Ballet Academy, Yoga Roots in Burlington, & at her private home practice in WRJ, VT. Monica presently splits her time between the UV and NYC.
